Michelle Mosby – Candidate for Mayor
Born and raised in Richmond, Michelle Mosby was the first Black woman to be elected President of the Richmond City Council, where she delivered results for our city – like building new schools, transforming the riverfront and expanding the port, and investing in bus rapid transit all while maintaining a budget surplus.
Michelle started a nonprofit that has helped hundreds of people returning from incarceration successfully transition to employment and she is a business owner who understands Richmond’s economic challenges and its opportunities.
She’s running for mayor because she wants to use her track record of success on the council to once again make City Hall focus on delivering necessary services to residents, improve economic development citywide, address housing affordability, and reduce crime.
This episode also includes a re-airing of Women & Politics’s interview with Danny Avula’s campaign manager, Lawson Wijesooriya (originally aired 9/26). Listen to the full episode on wrir.org.
