Carol Olson started Women and Politics in January of 2017. A show bringing women together to talk about how they are engaging in politics, what they want out of their representatives and how women are changing communities. She has won awards for her work in community focused independent media: 2019 = Phenomenal Woman, Maker, and Mentor by peers for The Fem In You Event at Hand Made in RVA and Studio 23; 2016 = Outstanding Women Award for Media & Marketing by the YWCA; 2010 = Women of Peace Award by the Women’s Peacepower Foundation. Sheri Shannon joined as Co-Host in 2020. Sheri the co-founder of Hull Street Action and Southside ReLeaf in Richmond, Va. She was featured as an “Eco Hero” by Glamour magazine. She at is an award-winning communications strategist, community liaison, environmental advocate and owner of Shannon Strategies (shannonstrategies.com), a communications firm specializing in campaigns for the greater good. For almost 15 years, she has worked in the nonprofit and private sectors running communications campaigns for startup companies, political candidates, interest groups, environmental organizations and Australian government alliances. Sheri is committed to the fight for environmental and economic justice so everyone has a clean, healthy and safe space to live, work, learn, and pray.
