Dr. Leah Werner – Assistant Professor of Family Medicine, Oregon Health & Science University

Dr. Leah Werner is a family physician and Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Oregon Health & Science University. She particularly enjoys developing relationships with her patients over time and supporting their ability to thrive. In addition, she has a special interest in travel medicine.

Outside of work, Dr. Werner and her husband, a pilot, spend time with their three children engaging in various activities. These include surfing the Oregon Coast, hiking in city parks and waterfall hunting in the Columbia Gorge. She is originally from Chicago.

Colleen Howarth – Volunteer, Mutual Aid Distribution Richmond (MADRVA)

Hello! My name is Colleen Howarth and I have been a volunteer with Mutual Aid Distribution Richmond since 2020. I currently help run our free grocery and supply store Meadowbridge Community Market that is located in the Northside area. This work has a special place in my heart due to the emphasis on community care and political education. I love building relationships with my neighbors and establishing new ways of helping each other survive. I strive to always be critical of the systems currently in place and work to unlearn the individualism our society encourages. I’m a Richmond native and it is important for me to feel deeply connected to the city I live in because we are all we have. I hope to continue this work for many years to come! Outside of this work, I have a background in social work and public health but currently make a living in the restaurant industry. I enjoy swimming in the river (controversial I know!), watching horror movies, and spending time with my dog and two cats.
