Delegate Candi Mundon King – 23rd District Representative, Virginia House of Delegates

Delegate Candi Mundon King represents the 23rd District in the Virginia House of Delegates. With over a decade of experience in government and community relations, including experience securing millions of dollars in funding for underserved educational programs, Candi King knows how to get things done in Richmond.

In the community, Candi helps families with special needs children navigate the education system and mentors high school students with the college admission process. She has also served as a Girl Scouts Troop Leader and Vice-Chair of the Woodbridge Democratic Committee. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Virginia Commission on Unemployment Compensation. Candi was born and raised in the Commonwealth and earned a degree in political science from Norfolk State University. 

Delegate Michelle Maldonado – 20th District Representative, Virginia House of Delegates

Delegate Michelle Lopes Maldonado is a long-time resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia and is the daughter and granddaughter of educators. When elected to her first term, she became the first woman and first person of color to hold the seat in the 400 plus year history of Virginia’s legislature. In her first year in the House of Delegates, Michelle was named “2022 Rookie Legislator of the Year” and “Education Champion.” Currently, she serves on Courts of Justice where she chairs the Judicial subcommittee, Labor & Commerce where she chairs the subcommittee on insurance and financial institutions, Privileges & Elections where she serves on the subcommittees for Constitutional Amendments and Election Administration, and Communications, Technology & Innovation Committee. Michelle focuses her legislative efforts on consumer protection, affordable housing, AI/new and emerging technology, jobs/workforce development, healthcare, energy/the environment, and education. She is Chair of the Affordable Housing Policy Committee for the House Democratic Caucus and Founding Chair of the Virginia General Assembly’s bipartisan Technology & Innovation Caucus. For her impactful work, Michelle was named “2024 Impact Maker” by Virginia Business Magazine and “Legislative Champion” by the Virginia Education Association.

In her non-legislative work, Michelle is CEO of Lucenscia, a business strategy and leadership development firm. In her capacity as CEO, Michelle has been recognized as “Woman of The Year,” “Top Corporate Leader,” and inducted as an honorary member into the Golden Key International Honour Society. She also has been featured in conference venues and publications including the DQ Institute in association with the World Economic Forum and the United Nations’ Global Engagement Summit. Michelle is a proud graduate of Barnard College at Columbia University and The George Washington University School of Law.
