Elizabeth Borst – Director of Advocacy, Virginia Fresh Match

Elizabeth Borst is Director of Advocacy with Virginia Fresh Match, Virginia’s nutrition incentive program that doubles the value of SNAP for fruits and vegetables.  As a co-lead of Virginia Fresh Match, Elizabeth supports the statewide program that increases nutrition access at Virginia farmers markets and community grocery stores. She has been a leader in food access and food systems partnerships in Virginia for 15 years, starting and managing farmers markets and piloting innovative food access programs. Working with other partners, she helped launch the Virginia Fresh Match network and is also the founder of Virginia Community Food Connections, a local food nonprofit in Fredericksburg. She is passionate about connecting vulnerable neighbors with available local produce to improve community food security and support family farms. Elizabeth has a B.A. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and lives in Spotsylvania, VA with her husband. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and repurposing old things.

Rachel James – Staff Attorney, Southern Environmental Law Center

As Staff Attorney at SELC, Rachel participates in case development, conducts legal research and writing, and applies her expertise in utility policy and energy justice across cases.

Jogging, hiking, learning guitar, reading, and gathering with family and friends are activities Rachel regularly makes time to enjoy.
