Sookyung Oh – Executive Director, Hamkae Center

Sookyung Oh (오수경) joined Hamkae Center as its first Executive Director in January 2017 to build power with Asian American communities in Virginia. Hamkae Center is the Virginia affiliate of NAKASEC. She has spent two decades working with community members to design and lead issue-based campaigns to win systemic change, training dozens of organizers and community leaders, conducting data and policy analysis, and building partnerships. She serves on the boards of NAKASEC and Adhikaar, and
previously served on the boards of the Virginia Civic Engagement Table, the Virginia Coalition for Immigrant Rights, and the ACLU-DC. She is a 2nd-generation Korean American who enjoys comic books and exploring the Hampton Roads region with her family.
