Sophia McCrimmon – The Valentine, Adult Programs & Tours Manager

Sophia McCrimmon is the Adult Programs & Tours Manager at the Valentine, the only museum dedicated to collecting, preserving, and interpreting the history of the city of Richmond. Since 2021, Sophia has worked on the Valentine’s Education & Engagement team designing and managing public programs, visitor resources, and group experiences. In her time as Adult Programs & Tours Manager, she has introduced new neighborhood walking tours in Scott’s Addition and Manchester, launched an Annual Tour Pass program, and collaborated with organizations across Richmond to offer Pay-What-You-Will and
specialty tours.
 
Born and raised in Richmond, Sophia attended the University of Virginia as a Jefferson Scholar and earned a B.A. in American Studies and English with high distinction. She has nearly a decade of experience in hands-on public history roles and has worked as an educator and researcher with Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello, the UVa Law Library, and the Cornerstone Summer Institute, among other organizations.
