Rabia Kamara Ruggiero – Founder, Ruby Scoops
Rabia Kamara Ruggiero developed a passion for cooking from a young age, inspired by the unique dishes created by the women in her family. Receiving a cookbook at the age of nine ignited their passion, but not everyone supported her dream of becoming a chef.
Years later, while studying at Virginia Commonwealth University, she rediscovered her love for cooking and pursued culinary arts at L’Academie de Cuisine, where she graduated with distinction. Rabia began her culinary journey in the Washington, DC, restaurant scene, working at PS7 and Addie’s restaurant before starting their own company, Ruby Scoops, which she founded in 2014.
Ruby Scoops started as an idea and became an entity in 2015. The company now creates unique dessert experiences based on Rabia’s ideas and inspirations. In 2020, she moved back to Richmond and opened a shop on Brookland Park Blvd, where she currently lives with her husband and two cats
